In Ghana, children with cancer have no access to free medical care. So, they need to pay for it. Pay for the diagnosis, for the specialists, for the treatment, for everything. In a country with only three paediatric oncologists and two hospitals capable of offering cancer treatment, families living in poverty need to travel up to 17 hours just to be seen by a doctor. Between 2018 and 2019, and in partnership with World Child Cancer and Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, we interviewed over 200 families and children with cancer.
